Lifestyle Changes & Medication Treatment

If your valve disease is mild and you are not experiencing problematic symptoms, your cardiologist may suggest making changes to your lifestyle. Some of these changes may include:

  • Exercise
  • Healthy diet
  • Quitting smoking
  • Keeping your blood pressure under control
  • Reducing alcohol intake

If you have mild valve disease and are experiencing symptoms due to your heart disease, your cardiologists may prescribe medications to relieve those symptoms. Although medications can serve an important purpose, they cannot reverse the damage or cure valve disease. They can however reduce symptoms and complications. Some medications used include:

  • ACE inhibitors
  • Vasodilators
  • Anti-arrhythmic medications
  • Anticoagulants
  • Beta blockers
  • Diuretics

Start living. Heart healthy.
